The ruins of the Victoria Theatre in Gliwice are entering a new chapter in their history. The site, which until now has mainly served as a seasonal venue and a place of symbolic significance, has the potential to become the focal point of a wider regeneration project for this part of the city centre.

The aim of the project is not only to tidy up the space, but above all to breathe new life into it and give it a new purpose.

The city of Gliwice has already taken the first step in this direction: bids have been opened for the initial phase of the project, which involves the restoration of the Ruins. The sums proposed by the contractors range from around 62 million to nearly 86 million zlotys.

The tender procedure, announced in December on a ‘design and build’ basis, concerns the refurbishment of the interiors and the restoration of the building’s structure. There was considerable interest in the project, with four bids received. The lowest bid, amounting to just under PLN 62 million, was submitted by a consortium comprising WODPOL, Mikor Inżyniering and PBO Śląsk. The other bids were submitted by: TEXOM S.A. from Kraków (over PLN 73 million), ARCO System from Oświęcim (over PLN 77.5 million) and Mostostal Zabrze – Gliwickie Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Przemysłowego, whose bid amounts to almost PLN 85.7 million.

A detailed analysis of the submitted documents is currently underway. The results of this analysis will determine the choice of contractor and the pace of the project’s implementation, which could have a significant impact on the character of this part of the city.
